Jump starts
A flat battery
Lights left on, a cold morning, or a car that sat in a station car park for a week. We jump it if it will take a jump, and we say so if it will not.
A jump start is a short job when the battery is simply empty. If the battery will no longer hold a charge, we will not pretend that a pair of leads has fixed it.
Cars with start-stop systems are particular about how they are jumped. Tell us the make and model, so we bring the right equipment and do not put the car's electronics at risk.
If a tyre is also down, put both in your first message. Two jobs on one visit is ordinary; discovering the second one on arrival is not.

- New tyresGive us the size from the sidewall and where the car is. We bring the tyre, take the old one off and torque the wheel on the same ground.
- Puncture repairA hole in the middle of the tread can often be repaired properly from the inside. A cut in the sidewall cannot, and we will tell you which you have.
- Locking wheel nutsThe key is in the glovebox, or it is not. Tell us which before we set off and the right removal kit comes with the van.
- Run-flatsThey still go down and they still have to come off at the roadside. They are heavier and stiffer, and they hide a puncture until the warning light comes on.
