Run-flats
Run-flat tyres
They still go down and they still have to come off at the roadside. They are heavier and stiffer, and they hide a puncture until the warning light comes on.
A run-flat lets you drive a short distance at reduced speed after a puncture. It is not a plan. The further you go on it, the less likely it is that anything can be saved.
Run-flats cost more than conventional tyres, and we tell you the price before we set off. Some cars can take a conventional tyre instead; some cannot, or should not have the two mixed on one axle. We will tell you which applies to yours.
Tyre pressure sensors are normal on these cars. We reset what can be reset at the roadside. A sensor that has already failed is a separate conversation.
What to tell us
- The size, and the run-flat marking on the sidewall — often RFT, ROF, SSR or ZP.
- How far you drove after the warning light came on.
- Whether you would consider a conventional tyre if the car allows it.

Where this job tends to find us
We do this anywhere in our thirty districts. These are three places where the ground makes it more likely to be needed.
Price first
Ask for a price: run-flats
Tell us where the car is and what has happened. We reply with a price and an honest idea of how far away the van is, before anything is agreed.

Other jobs
The rest of what the van does
- New tyresGive us the size from the sidewall and where the car is. We bring the tyre, take the old one off and torque the wheel on the same ground.
- Puncture repairA hole in the middle of the tread can often be repaired properly from the inside. A cut in the sidewall cannot, and we will tell you which you have.
- Locking wheel nutsThe key is in the glovebox, or it is not. Tell us which before we set off and the right removal kit comes with the van.
- Van tyresTransits, Sprinters, Crafters and the box van that should not have gone down that lane. Load ratings and twin wheels, not car tyres with bigger writing.
- Jump startsLights left on, a cold morning, or a car that sat in a station car park for a week. We jump it if it will take a jump, and we say so if it will not.
- RecoveryA blowout on the A27, a wheel that will not turn, or a car in a ditch off a Downs lane. What cannot be fixed where it stands, we lift and move.
